Hello there,

My name is Wessel van Berkel, a 20-year-old CMD student. I see myself as an interaction designer with a passion for visual design. I am in second year of my four-year-long study at Hogeschool Rotterdam. Apart from the designing that I do for my study, I'm also a beginning photographer, with a passion for architecture. I am currently living in Rotterdam, but was born in a small town in Zeeland, called Vlissingen.

I have a passion for photography, which started when I was young.

I got my first ‘real’ camera when I was around the age of eight. I started taking pictures of everything I could lay my eyes upon. That’s the moment that I discovered that I was a creative kid. I started drawing and without knowing, taking the first steps into the world of design. I grew up not knowing what I wanted to be as a grown-up, but the thing that I knew was that I wanted to show my creativity to the world. About ten years later I was looking for a design study and found one, where I can show my creativity and develop as a designer.

As a designer, I find the greatest values to be :

  • Personal growth

  • Connection

  • Respect

I think that in these values there are some core values hidden, which I naturally bring back into my designs etc.

As every human-being I also have a few things in my life that don't have a lot to do with my job or my role as a designer. I find pleasure in drawing, tech and playing tennis. I currently work at a large electronics store, where I can show my passion through photography and look at the newest tech products.

I also find joy in hanging out with friends and meeting new people, learning about new cultures and learning new languages. which is also the reason I can speak a few words of Norwegian and Indonesian.
